Herbal Consultation (Traditional Chinese Medicine) dates back to over 4000 years ago. The main principles revolve around balancing the body so that every organ is nourished; in turn allows your body to function efficiently to naturally recover from illness or injuries without the side-effects of pharmaceutical medication. The correct use of a natural herbal brew is easy to absorb and does no harm to our body. We here at Modern Health believe that this ancient medicine is the modern choice for a healthy & natural well-being.
Tui-na (Chinese Massage Therapy) involves using traditional techniques such as Acupressure to relieve tension in muscles and provide deep-tissue stimulation to help relieve pain and stress from an over-worked body. The use of acupressure encourages blood flow; leaving you relaxed and refreshed at the end of the treatment. Available by appointment only.
Acupuncture can restore and balance our body both physically and emotionally through the insertion of very fine needles into specific points. By improving the flow of Oxygen (Qi), nutrients and blood (Xue), it counters the no.1 cause of illnesses: blood stagnation. Without proper blood flow, the body will not function properly, nor will it heal. The dilation of blood vessels through acupuncture will, therefore help relieve pain and nourish the organs for a healthier well-being.
Moxibustion is the stimulation of the heat generated by the burning of the herb Artemisia (Mugwort) on your acupuncture points. This therapy expels accumulated dampness that causes stiffness/weakness in joints/muscles from the body; relieving pain and tension in joints. This treatment can also help alleviate chronic/temporary respiratory problems such as Coughs/Asthma/Hay-fever.
Cupping is the application of glass cups onto the skin by creating a vacuum through a flame. The vacuum in the cup draws the skin upwards to stimulate the flow of blood and to clear toxins. This therapy is frequently used to effectively assist recovery of heavily worked muscles, sporting injuries or relaxation.
